Roseau, October 9, 2019. The first group of members of the brigade of construction collaborators in Dominica who participated in the reconstruction of this country after hurricane Maria, will be arriving in the evening hours today october 9th, 2019. This is a group of 12 constructers, of the total of 54 who remained for more than 15 consecutive months working in this sister nation. The Ambassador of Cuba in Dominica, Ulises Arranz Fernández and the Head of the Constructers Brigade, Eng. Juan Antuch Suarez, went to the international airport of Dominica, "Charles Douglas", to dismiss the group.
The previous day there was an act of farewell to all constructers at the headquarters where the brigade resides, on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the death of the heroic guerrilla, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, in which the Ambassador stressed that "all present they had honored the memory of "Che" in the best way that could be done, with a considerable social contribution to the recovery of Dominica and leaving in his village an eternal memory for the beautiful work done. " He briefly recounted the results achieved: 185 reconstructed houses, 14 buildings of the “State College” teaching complex, 4 elementary schools, more than 330 lamps to illuminated roads in the country and other social works.
The remaining groups of collaborators will be traveling back to Cuba on October 10, 11, 14, 16 and 18. The brigade was made up of workers from construction companies in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Havana, Mayabeque, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Ciego de Ávila, Las Tunas, Granma and Santiago de Cuba.
