Roseau, March 22, 2019. A delegation of officials of the ministry of foreign affairs of Cuba held a meeting with members of the Office of Disaster Management of Dominica (ODM, for its acronym in english), at the headquarters of this institution located in Jimmit, on the outskirts of Roseau, on today march 22, 2019; coinciding with world meteorology day.
the cuban delegation was chaired by José Ramón Balaguer, Department Head of the Directorate of Defense, Security and Protection (DDSP) of MINREX, and integrated by Ulises Arranz Fernández, Ambassador in Dominica and by Tomasa Gonzalez, DDSP official. On the dominican side were present Fitzroy Pascal, National Coordinator of the ODM, Cecil Shillingford, consultant and Donalson Frederick, Program Officer; both ODM officials.
the meeting served to exchange information on prevention systems against natural disasters in Dominica and in Cuba, especially those that have to do with the diplomatic mission based in this country, as well as with the brigades of cuban collaborators in the area of health. and the recovery of houses and social entities. the information offered by the dominican delegation served to know how the state representation of Cuba can use the mechanisms of the dominican protection system, as well as the participation of Cuba in the recuperative phase of the country after hurricane Maria.
