Monrovia, March 22, 2023.- Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodríguez Perdomo paid a working visit to the Republic of Liberia, during which he held meetings with important authorities of the African country.
The Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister was received, among other Liberian leaders, by the Vice President of the Republic, Jewel Howard Taylor, the Speaker of Parliament, Bhofal Chambers, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Deweh E. Gray.
In these exchanges, the parties highlighted the ties that unite the Republic of Liberia and Cuba, expressed the will to strengthen bilateral relations, cooperation and human resources training, and addressed issues of regional and multilateral agenda of common interest. Rodríguez Perdomo expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of the African continent with Cuba and the continental call for the lifting of the U.S. blockade.
In these meetings and in those held with the Ministers of Health, Dr. Wilhemina Jallah and of Youth and Sports, Zeogar Wilson, and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Henry Boimah Fahnbulleh, Cuba's solidarity contribution in the fight against Ebola in Liberia in 2014-2015 was recognized, as well as in the training of human resources for this country and for other States in the African Continent.
The Cuban delegation included Luis Alberto Amorós Núñez, director of Sub-Saharan Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mercedes Martínez Herrera, Head of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in the Republic of Liberia.
