LIMA.— Cuban doctors who traveled to the region of Piura in Peru, on a solidarity mission, are currently treating the thousands of victims of recent floods which have devastated the regional capital of the same name, and the area of Catacaos.
Speaking to Prensa Latina, Cuban Ambassador to Peru, Sergio González, who is accompanying the brigade, stated that the areas where the Cuban doctors will be stationed was decided following discussions with regional health authorities and local press.
Head of the brigade, Rolando Piloto, noted that the comprehensive family doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals who make up the brigade began offering their services on April 2, at five locations in the camps set up to house those persons evacuated from the most severely affected zones.
Meanwhile, the website Cubadebate published a report by Dr. Enmanuel Vigil Fonseca, a member of the Henry Reeve medical brigade currently working in Peru.
