Nassau, January 8, 2021. In a Caribbean environment, and trying to soften the nerves of future Bahamian doctors, we said goodbye to three young people from this nation who will travel to Cuba next Monday to study Medicine. Despite of the complexities and challenges imposed by Covid19 in our countries: Jade, Giovanni and Dreyson feel that the time has come to face a major challenge; but they are convinced that their effort will be worth it.
Dr. Lorenzo Pérez Sánchez, head of the Cuban medical collaboration brigade urged them to study, study and study; but without ceasing to know and enjoy Cuba. He explained that the clinical method of caring the patients, applied in our country, is decisive for becoming a professional in Medicine; but also for a doctor for whom the most important thing is the human being. On behalf of the Embassy, I told them that they are going to reach an island full of challenges; but eager to raise solidarity as a flag, and for that reason, the Cuban State maintains its policy of helping many nations of the world on training of professionals, including our brothers in the CARICOM.
Jade, Giovanni and Dreyson go to Cuba with a mixture of happiness, security and homesickness; but with the will to fulfill a challenging and difficult dream; but achievable.
