Cuban Embassy in Liberia on 26

Monrovia, July 26, 2024 - The 71st anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Barracks was celebrated this afternoon in Liberia.

Members of the solidarity group, graduates in Cuba, and friends of the Greater of the Antilles gathered at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Monrovia to commemorate the historic date of the National Rebellion Day.

The celebration included speeches by Gaydou Zawolo, president of the group of Liberians who graduated in Cuba, Kesselee King Kanneh, president of the Liberia-Cuba Solidarity group, and Mercedes L. Martinez, Head of the Cuban Mission in the Republic of Liberia.

The occasion was propitious for both organizations to condemn, once again, the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and the attempts of the U.S. government to subvert the internal order of the Greater of the Antilles by tightening the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has lasted for more than 60 long years.

For her part, Cuban diplomat Mercedes Martinez Herrera stressed the importance of the Moncada heroic deed for the subsequent course of the Cuban revolutionary movement and thanked those present for their accompaniment and support, recognizing the tireless work of the Liberia-Cuba solidarity group.
