Cuban Embassy in Liberia commemorates the 153rd anniversary of the beginning of the war for the independence of Cuba.

Monrovia, October 10, 2021 - This Sunday morning, the Cuban Embassy in Liberia, headed by the Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, commemorated the 153rd anniversary of the beginning of the war for the independence of Cuba.

With La Demajagua and the other uprisings, the decision of sacrifice and intransigence of the Cubans to achieve independence at whatever cost was necessary was evidenced.

Fidel, in his speech for the centenary of the deed on October 10, 1968 said: "What does this glorious date mean for the revolutionaries of our homeland? It simply means the beginning of a hundred years of struggle, the beginning of the revolution in Cuba, because in Cuba there has only been one revolution: the one started by Carlos Manuel de Céspedes on October 10, 1868 and which our people are carrying forward at this moment".

Those words have total validity today because they explain the capacity of resistance and the ideals of the Cuban people.
