Cuban feature film "El Mayor" is presented in Toronto.

Along with a varied selection of films by different Latin American filmmakers, Cuba had its space at the Toronto Latin American Film Festival with the feature film "El Mayor", by the late Cuban film director Rigoberto López Pego. The film was preceded by the promotional spot of “Cuba Única” tourism campaign, coordinated by the Consulate to be screened before each film at the Festival.

At the presentation, the Consul General, Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, highlighted the 155th anniversary of the beginning of our wars of independence on October 10, 1868, and the importance of films like this one for the preservation of the historical memory, especially during the celebrations of Cuba´s National Culture Day

The Cuban diplomat thanked the organizers of the event for their invitation, especially Oscar Vigil, executive director of the Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council, and stressed the importance of these scenarios for the preservation of Latin American culture.

The screening of the feature film was attended by members of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans residents in Toronto, friends of the solidarity movement, and by lovers of the Cuban cinema.
