Cuban flag hoisted at the Legislative Building of the Government of Ontario

Ottawa, January 4- On the occasion of the 65thAnniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, the Cuban flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Legislative Building of the province of Ontario.

The event, organized by the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto, was attended by important authorities of the province of Ontario; members of the Cuban community; representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps; members of solidarity organizations and political parties.

During the ceremony, messages of congratulations to the people of Cuba were conveyed by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Ted Arnott; the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), Kristyn Wong-Tam, on behalf of the New Democratic Party; the member of the Progressive Conservative Party, Sheref Sabawy, who also delivered a message from Premier Doug Ford; and messages from Mike Schreiner MPP, leader of the Green Party of Ontario and from the MPP for Kingston, Ted Hsu,were read out.

In addition, Julio Fonseca, president of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cuban residents, emphasized the will of the Cuban community to continue supporting the people and government of the island and denounced the impact of the U.S. blockade against our nation.

In addition to the hoisting ceremony, there was a reception on Cuba's National Day, in which several friends of Cuba expressed their admiration for the work of the Revolution and the resistance of the Cuban people.

As part of the event, the Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellano met with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and highlighted the importance of the 65th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution for Cuba and the world, while reaffirming the great potential to further expand bilateral relations.
