Cuban Foreign Minister recognizes support against the blockade.

Havana, January 6.  Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla recognized the support of the international community in favor of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government against the Caribbean island.

He stated that during 2020, 159 States and 34 international organizations sent messages of support to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, for resolution 74/7 entitled “The necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba”.

In addition, at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, 34 heads of delegation denounced this genocidal policy, he emphasized.

The report issued by Cuba, by virtue of Resolution 74/7 of the UN General Assembly, details that between April 2019 and March 2020 the US blockade caused losses of 5.57 billion dollars: an increase of about 1.226 billion dollars, compared to the previous period.

According to this report, this period was marked by a setback in bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States and by a tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, with some 90 actions and coercive measures imposed by Washington on Havana.

In health, from April 2019 to March 2020, Cuba registered a loss of $ 160,260,880 due to this policy, whose negative impact was aggravated in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
