Monrovia, February 21, 2022 - At the invitation of the President of the University of Liberia, Professor Dr. Julius J.S. Nelson, Jr., the Cuban Head of Mission in the African country Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera participated in the celebration of the 71st Anniversary of the main state university of that nation and one of the oldest in West Africa.
The academic event framed within the celebration of Liberia's Bicentennial was attended by national and international speakers who had studied at the prestigious university.
The University of Liberia, formerly Liberia College, was founded and established by an Act of the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia on February 15, 1951, to prepare the men and women of the nation. Among other objectives, sought to become a "center of learning with high academic standards that is dedicated to the pursuit, promotion and dissemination of knowledge with emphasis on practical knowledge that is immediately useful to economic, social, political and cultural development needs."
