Monrovia, May 27, 2021.- In a meeting held with Liberian graduates, the Cuban Head of Mission in this West African country, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera, referred to the main elements that have characterized the criminal policy of the blockade against our country, which goes far beyond the well-known coercive measures and economic sanctions applied by the US against third countries.
The Cuban diplomat explained how the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. against Cuba affects the disabled and hinders the acquisition of supplies and products for people with disabilities.
In his denunciation, he pointed out that the blockade has a heartbreaking impact on people with disabilities, since they are a population group in a vulnerable situation within society, who suffer the restrictions imposed by this nefarious policy.
Martínez Herrera described the blockade as "the highest expression of an arbitrary, cruel, inhuman and systematic policy, deliberately designed to provoke hunger, disease and despair among the Cuban population".
