Cuban Head of Mission talks about Cuban women in exchange with Liberian leaders and senators.

Monrovia, March 4, 2021 - During a meeting held with Liberian leaders and senators, Cuban Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera made a dissertation on Cuban women as an essential force to guarantee the prosperous development of the Caribbean island, their achievements and contribution to the Cuban revolution.

One of the topics addressed was the difficulties faced by Cuban women as a result of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by successive U.S. administrations, which has been the most harmful form of violence and the main obstacle to the realization of women's human rights in Cuba.

In this context, the Cuban diplomat denounced the intensification of the U.S. blockade and was emphatic in reaffirming the will of Cuban women to defend the sovereignty of the largest of the Antilles.

With statistical data, she referred to the empowerment of Cuban women, highlighting the role played by the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the political will of the Cuban revolutionary government.

The segment culminated with former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf praising Cuban women and their achievements.
