The Ministry of Foreign Relations of Cuba was established on 23 December 1959 by Decree of the revolutionary Government.
The foreign policy of the island adheres to the basic principles of international law: respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of States; the self-determination of peoples, equality and the rejection of interference in the internal affairs of other countries, among others.
