Dr. José Angel Portal Miranda paid an official visit to the sister nation of Qatar on November 24 and 25, 2022, at the invitation of H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health of Qatar, with whom he had several exchanges.
The distinguished visitor learned about the significant advances in healthcare achieved by the Arab nation through tours of medical centers and similar discussions with other senior managers of the Qatari healthcare system.
The working days also allowed Dr. Portal Miranda to interact with several Cuban health collaborators who provide their services in the sister nation. He confirmed as well the high recognition that the Cuban health system, including its doctors, nurses, and technicians, has among the Qatari population.
The Cuban Minister of Public Health praised the Qatari government and people for the success in the organization and development of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and wished the best results to the national soccer team.
Cuba and Qatar have maintained excellent South-South cooperation in the health sector for more than ten years, which is consolidating and developing nowadays. Precisely, their Excellencies Minister Portal Miranda and Minister Al Kuwari talked about ways of expanding that collaboration.
