Port of Spain, October 19, 2024. At the event organized by the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) in Port of Spain, the Cuban Embassy celebrated its Latin Night, showcasing part of Cuban culture through cinema, music, and dance.
In his address, Ambassador Gustavo Véliz highlighted that Cuba’s participation was dedicated to Cuban Culture Day, coinciding with the anniversary of the first performance of the national anthem during the country’s independence struggles.
As part of the presentation of the film Yuli, the Ambassador emphasized the high quality of Cuba’s arts education and the talent of young Cuban artists. He also expressed gratitude to the organizers for the invitation to participate in an event that allowed Cuban art to be promoted in the country.
The Cuban presentation showcased the cultural tradition of the pregon, a lasting symbol in Cuban society, and the rueda de casino, which closed the night alongside Cuban music. Members of the Cuban Medical Brigade and the Association of Cuban Residents “Abraza a Cuba” contributed to the evening’s activities.
The fourth edition of the “Latin Nights” cultural festival, inaugurated on October 9, provided Hispanic countries the opportunity to present the most representative aspects of their cultures. This year’s participants included Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, and Spain.
