Cuban representation at the informal meeting of the Board of Directors of the Green Climate Fund.

Liberia, February 4, 2020 - The informal meeting of the Board of Directors of the Green Climate Fund is taking place in Monrovia, Liberia, from February 4 to 7, to discuss the Fund's draft Strategic Plan for period 2020/2024.  Jorge Ferrer, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is participating in the meeting as Alternate Member of the Board.

The Green Climate Fund (GCCF) was created to support the efforts of developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and help them adapt to the effects of climate change. Designed to be a funding mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the VCF is a legally independent institution with an appointed secretariat and a 24-member, 24-member board or board of directors that oversees the operation of the Fund, approves its policies, decides on project funding and operates under the guidance and supervision of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties.
