Cuban state mission in Saudi Arabia participates in the popular consultation on Families Code

Riyadh, March 4th - With the assistance and participation of the 11 members of the Cuban State Mission, the popular consultation meeting on the new Families Code was held in Riyadh. Its draft was approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power in December 2021 to be submitted to the consideration of the electorate and to the subsequent referendum.

This meeting was the third of its kind, since in Saudi Arabia a total of 16 reunions have been planned from March 3 to 18, under the direction of the corresponding District 65 Electoral Commission, to guarantee the participation in the consultation of not only the Embassy’s officials, but also of health collaborators who are distributed throughout several locations in the Kingdom.

The Riyadh meeting took place at the Residence of Cuba and the participants offered their considerations on the Families Code and made contributions to enrich it, taking into account that it is a transcendental document conceived with a modern and inclusive character, according to the changes in society.

During the introduction to the meeting, Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez highlighted the organizational effort made by our authorities with a view to promote the widest possible participation in this consultation process, including the population of the country and we Cubans on official missions and even residing abroad.

Members of the Cuban state mission in Saudi Arabia will also have the opportunity to participate in the referendum on the Families Code to be held soon later. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
