Montreal, July 7th,- The Cuban Youth National Baseball Team was received last week in the City Hall of the district of LaSalle, a borough of the city of Montreal, Quebec. Local authorities, Canadian Baseball executives, as well as the Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, Julio Garmendia, attended the welcoming ceremony.
At the event, the LaSalle Mayor, Manon Barbe and other personalities of the hosting country welcomed the young Cubans, who said they were satisfied by the warm reception. Garmendia encouraged the Cuban team to give their best to leave in high the name of the Cuban Sport.
During the evening the Cuban Ambassador, accompanied by Montreal Mayor, Denis Coderre, and Mrs. Barbe, participated in the opening ceremony of the first game of the Cuban team in Canada facing the LaSalle Cardinals. In the confrontation our youngsters showed an impressive superiority on the locals who were overwhelmingly defeated with score 26 to 0.
