Paris, January 23, 2025.- Cubans living in Europe who are part of the Juntos X Cuba platform condemned this Thursday the decision of the American president, Donald Trump, to reinclude the Island in the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which they described as unfair.
In a statement, they described as arbitrary and unfounded the measure adopted by Trump on his first day in the White House, just a week after his predecessor, Joseph Biden, announced the withdrawal of Cuba from a mechanism that, although it lacks international protection, represents a severe impact in the economic and financial spheres.
Trump's decision not only ignores the record of the Caribbean nation in the service of dialogue, peace and solidarity among peoples, it also constitutes an act of extreme cruelty, they warned.
In this regard, they denounced the financial and economic barriers that arise from the re-inclusion in the list of countries that Washington considers sponsors of terrorism, aggravating the already difficult living conditions for the inhabitants of the island subjected to more than six decades of blockade.
This measure does not respond to an objective evaluation, only to strictly political motivations aimed at perpetuating a climate of hostility and attack on sovereignty and self-determination, the platform stressed.
Juntos X Cuba urged the international community not to remain indifferent to injustice and for governments and institutions to adopt countermeasures to prevent the application of Trump's unilateral gesture.
