Cuba's work in UNESCO is valued in Azerbaijan

The executive secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), Elnur Sultanov, said today in a meeting with the Cuban ambassador in Baku, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo , the role of Cuba in that international organization.

During the working meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this Caucasian nation, Sultanov highlighted the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba and the common points on international issues.

He praised the fact that UNESCO awarded two prizes related to Cuba, José Martí and Carlos J. Finlay and highlighted the role of the Island as a member of the World Heritage Committee of the Organization.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador expressed that there is room to further develop cooperation between Baku and Havana and thanked Azerbaijan for the organization of the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be held in Baku, 30th. from June to July 10.
