Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship celebrated the 50th anniversary of being created last 12 October, through an activity carried out in the city of Odense that was attended by Danish friends, the Embassy of Cuba in Denmark and Cubans resident in that country.
The chairman of the Association, Sven-Erik Simonsen, expressed in the political and cultural event that Danish solidarity with the Cuban Revolution began even before the formal establishment of the organization. He highlighted the experiences they have shared with the Cuban people in multiple brigades of solidarity that have traveled to the Island over the years. He reaffirmed the wish to continue supporting Cuba on different fronts, such as the struggle for the lifting of the blockade imposed by the US government, as well as the will to continue adding Danish friends to that cause.
The Cuban ambassador in Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, thanked the Association for the sustained commitment and invaluable support provided to her country in countless battles such as the liberation of The Five Cuban Heroes; the opposition to the US blockade and the initiatives addressed to lift this unfair policy and the return of the territory illegally occupied by the United States at Guantanamo Naval Base; its contribution to the recovery processes after the occurrence of hurricanes or other natural disasters that have hit the Caribbean nation, among others.
