Oslo, October 30, 2022. A delegation from the Communist Party of Norway (NKP) took part in the XXII International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties (IMCWP), held in Havana, from October 27 to 29, with the participation of 145 delegates, representing 77 parties from 60 countries.
The NKP delegation was headed by Runa Evensen, president of the Party, and was also made up of Jim Høgfeldt, leader of the Trade Union Committee, and Jardar Nikolai Pettersen, president of the Young Communist League.
During the event, the participants debated on the enormous challenges faced by the leftist forces in front of the imperialism's offensive for imposing its hegemony at the global level, and the urgent need to continue strengthening the unity, solidarity and coordination of the communist and workers parties of the world in the struggle of our peoples for their true and definitive emancipation.
At the proposal of the Communist Parties of Spain and Turkey, the delegates unanimously approved a resolution condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba and reiterated their solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
The XXII EIPCO concluded with the adoption of a Final Declaration and an Action Plan.
The closing session was chaired by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who delivered an important speech.
As part of the program, the NKP delegation had the opportunity to visit the Fidel Castro Center, an institution created to disseminate, study and investigate the thought and work of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, as well as La Timba neighborhood, where they met first-hand the actions that are carried out to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.
The Norwegian communists also joined the Cuban people to throw flowers into the sea as a tribute to Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of his physical disappearance on October 28. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
