Deputy Chairperson AU Commission highlights Cuba's contribution to the professional training of thousands of young Africans

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González participated at the celebration of the 24th International African Writers´ Day, which was attended by the President of Ghana, Mr. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as well as the Deputy Chairperson, African Union Commission, Mr. Thomas Kwesi Quartey.

Both figures were awarded for their contribution to the development of literature in Africa.

The Cuban ambassador during the celebration had the opportunity to exchange greetings with the Ghanaian President, as well as to hold a fraternal conversation with Mr. Kwesi Quartey, who in a keynote address on the origins of African letters stressed the need to be able to face the challenges of the current world with the necessary preparation, moment in which he thanked the contribution made by Cuba for several years in the professional training, with the highest quality required, of thousands of young Africans.

The celebration, which was held for two days at the request of the Association of Panafrican Writers (PAWA), was also attended, among other figures, by Professor Atukwei Okai, its Secretary-General.
