The Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, Mr. Dephue Zuo, received at his office the Chargé d'Affairs of Cuba, Yordenis Despaigne Vera. They were also present, for the Liberian side Mr. Sie-Teba Neuville, Director of American Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and Carmen Maury Toledo, Second Secretary of the Cuban diplomatic mission
An essential point of the agenda topics of the meeting was the beginning of a new global campaign of solidarity with Cuba in favor of total and unconditional lifting of the blockade. On this, the Cuban official conveyed fraternal greetings to the caller, on behalf of the Cuban government for the traditional support that Liberia has given to Cuba in each electoral scenarios at the United Nations, crucial moment reflecting the universal accompaniment to Cuba in its struggle for justice. Also he alluded to various aspects contained in the recent press conference by the Minister Bruno Rodriguez, where he reaffirmed that the blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba unilaterally, remains the main obstacle to the normalization of relations between the two countries, with a markedly extraterritorial character and a flagrant and ongoing violation to human rights to the American people.
Meanwhile the Liberian diplomat said that "Cuba can always count on the support of Liberia in its confrontation to the blockade, because this fight is a matter of principle, to be consistent with the positions of a continent: Africa, which is so sensitive to the themes of Cuba as Cuba has always had a special sensitivity to the African peoples".
