Helsinki, January 22, 2019. Thousands of Finns and visitors from different latitudes, along with exhibitors from 80 countries and travel agents from all continents, had the opportunity to approach the attractive options and multiple benefits offered by Cuba as a safe travel destination during the international tourism fair MATKA 2019. Considered the largest event in this sector in northern Europe, MATKA 2019 took place between 17 and 20 January at the fairground "Messukeskus" in this capital.
As is already traditional in this important event, the Cuban stand, identified by the advertising campaign "Authentic Cuba", which promotes the most genuine values of Cuban culture, was among the most visited. Among the activities developed, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy and dance on the main stage of the fair, to the beat of Tri Cohiba orchestra, which brings together Cuban and Finnish musicians.
As part of the media coverage of "Matka 2019", important Finnish press published images and texts in the foreground highlighting the Cuban promotional space.
The Cuban Ambassador to Finland, Eduardo Lazo Pérez, attended the inauguration of the Fair and met at the stand of his country with Sergio Ferreiro Cabreras, counselor in charge of tourism affairs at the Embassy of Cuba in Sweden and other members of the delegation attending the event, which included representatives of Meliá and Iberostar hotel chains.
During those days, the visitors have received information about attractive promotions from Finnair, airline that started last December its second season of nonstop flights between Helsinki and Havana, and also from several travel agencies promoting Cuban destinations.
As in previous years, it was present at the Fair a stand organized by the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association. From there, Finnish friends and Cubans residing in this Nordic country have promoted the solidarity with the Caribbean island. (Report: Embassy of Cuba in Finland).
