THE AMBASSADOR OF CUBA IN SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES DENOUNCES, IN A PRESS CONFERENCE, THE NEW RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED BY THE U.S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT
Speaking at the press conference, convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Interior of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, on the occasion of the visit of a Cuban business mission, Ambassador Vilma Reyes Valdespino denounced the new restrictions announced, the eve, by the U.S. Treasury Department, in the framework of the reinforcement of the blockade against Cuba.
The Ambassador explained that the blockade that the U.S. applies to Cuba for six decades is a flagrant violation of international law and is the main obstacle to the development of the Cuban people.
The diplomat pointed out that, despite the extremely high human and material cost of this network of unilateral coercive measures, Cuba has not only survived, but has continued to develop without renouncing one of its principles and without renouncing its right and decision to cooperate, share, develop trade and investment with third world countries, especially with sister nations in the Caribbean.
The Ambassador thanked the support of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to Cuba in the fight for the lifting of the blockade and its invariable support for the Cuban Resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba".
The Head of the Cuban Mission also pointed out that Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines maintain excellent bilateral relations, enriched by a broad and promising collaboration, by coinciding approaches on multiple regional and global issues, by a common vision of the importance of unity, the strengthening of regional integration and cooperation, as well as the defense of the Latin American and Caribbean Proclamation as a Zone of Peace.
He added that in this framework, the exploration of investment possibilities and the increase in bilateral trade is part of the economic interaction of nations seeking mutual complementarities that have not yet been exploited. "We are a people of the South looking to the South," said the Ambassador.
Finally, the Ambassador valued the fact that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has participated in the last three editions of the International Fair of Havana, in the Caribbean Business Forum in Santiago de Cuba in 2018 and will participate in "Expocaribe 2019" and in the 37 FIHAV.
