Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mr. Yukiya Amano receives Ms. Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment of Cuba

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mr. Yukiya Amano received Ms. Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment of Cuba on 30 May 2017 in the afternoon in the headquarters of the United Nations Office in Vienna.

During the meeting they talked about Cuba´s close relations with the Agency and the results of the country in the use of nuclear technologies in key areas for its development. The Director General expressed his appreciation to the Minister for her presence in the Conference on Technical Cooperation which is celebrating the 60th anniversary of this program and he highlighted the Cuban contribution to it and the excellent results he has confirmed in his two visits to the Island.

Mr. Yukiya Amano is the Director General of IAEA since 2009. He headed the Board of Governors of the Agency (2005-2006) and he was the Permanent Representative of Japan to IAEA from 2005 to 2009. This international agency was established in 1957, it jointly works with its Member and Associated States to promote the use of nuclear technologies with pacific purposes and in technological safety and security conditions to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
