Documentary Running for the Revolution premieres in London

London, 1st July . The documentary Running for the Revolution premiered in London last Thursday at the city's emblematic Bolivar Hall. The film portrays the life of the two-time Cuban Olympic champion Alberto Juantorena, as well as episodes of the sports career of one of most iconic athletes of Cuba and the world, the only winner of the 400 and 800 metres race in the same Olympic Games.

The screening was organized by the Cuban Embassy in the United Kingdom, and was attended by British filmmaker and director of the film Mark Craig and the film's editor Simon Brooks.

In her welcoming remarks, Cuban ambassador Ismara Vargas Walter recognized Juantorena's Olympic prowess and sporting achievements, as well as his steadfast commitment to the Cuban Revolution and the island’s sports movement. In addition, director Mark Craig said he felt honoured by the opportunity to get to know a sports legend like Juantorena, as well as learning about the culture, history, the strong spirit of the Cubans and their friendliness.

Running for the Revolution premiered in Cuba as part of the official selection of the 42nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in 2020 and at the Havana Glasgow Film Festival in 2021.

The screening was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps, members of the solidarity movement with Cuba, Cuban who are residents in the UK, among others.
