Donation from Canada in support of the events at the Saratoga Hotel.

Ottawa, May 30, 2022.- The "Juan Gualberto Gómez" Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto made a donation of medical supplies, for an approximate value of 73 thousand Canadian dollars, in response to the events that occurred at the Saratoga Hotel, on May 6 of this year, where more than 99 people were injured. The destination of this donation will be the "General Calixto García" Clinical and Surgical Teaching Hospital, in Havana, the institution that received the largest number of injured people.

For more than 15 years, men and women of the "Juan Gualberto Gómez" Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto, have joined each of the tasks that the moment has required. One constant has been the denunciation of the hostile policy of the U.S. government towards Cuba, mainly the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has affected Cuban society for more than 6 decades.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this organization sent 6 containers of medical supplies to Cuba, including 4 oxygen suppliers (valued between 70-75 thousand dollars each); 6 air cargo of supplies with the help of Air Canada, of more than 250 kg each to the Province of Matanzas when it was going through its worst moments and a medical donation to Holguin, using a charter flight.

In response to the explosion at Saratoga, the “Juan Gualberto Gómez” Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto, stated the following on social networks:

The "Juan Gualberto Gomez" Association of Cubans in Toronto sends its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana yesterday. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and much strength to our people.
