Athens, 10 September. Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys María Dominguez Cortina and Councillor José Oriol Marrero Martínez made a working visit to the Greek island of Lefkada
A courtesy meeting was held with the new mayor of the island Mr. Charalampos Kalos, at the headquarters of the mayor's office. The meeting discussed the continuity of cultural exchange between Cuba and Lefkada, where successful activities of Cuba have been carried out during the LEA (Ibero-American Literature in Athens) festival, of which Lefkada is sub-site, as well as other new possibilities of Cooperation
Among the activities carried out was also a meeting with friends of solidarity and leaders of the cultural center of Lefkada, who reaffirmed their solidarity with Cuba and were interested in learning about the situation of the greatest of the Antilles, at a time when that the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba is reinforced, on which the Ambassador and the Councillor explained.
In both activities Cuba was also shown as a tourist destination, leaflets were delivered, the great interest of the Greek people in traveling to the Caribbean island was explained, and that the number of Hellenic tourists to the Cuban destination has increased.
There were interesting encounters that once again showed the great friendship between the Greek and Cuban peoples.
