Ambassador Sergio Vigoa of the Uz participated in the farewell of Professor Ndapandula Martha Shilyomunhu, founding principal of the Fidel Castro Ruz primary school.
“Our dear Martha and the group she has led have had the best model of virtue and purity, the paradigm that inspires and guides us: Fidel Castro Ruz, who stood out for always setting an example, for his vocation as a social educator and his stature ethics and morality,” the Cuban diplomat expressed in his speech.
Professor Ndapandula Martha Shilyomunhu, principal of this educational institution during the 16 years since it was founded, has educated with true passion, sowing in the souls of hundreds of students values and ideas that fertilize and affirm the identity of the “land of the brave.” ”.
As part of the brotherhood that unites the people of Cuba and Namibia, in 2007 it was proposed to name Fidel Castro Ruz to this center that houses an enrollment of 1,500 students from first to seventh grades, belonging to the town of Katutura, one of the towns of greater poverty and overcrowding in Windhoek, located 15 kilometers from the capital.
Meme Martha, as her students affectionately call her, embodies the strength and nobility of the Namibian woman. With her unconditional work and dedication to this noble task, she has shown how much can be done for the good of the Nation, sowing ideas in generations that will have the historic mission of never allowing this people to be subjugated again by the opprobrious regime of the apartheid.
Consistency and discipline have distinguished the leadership of Ndapandula Martha Shilyomunhu at the head of this educational institution that has classroom spaces, a dining room, sports areas, work rooms and a computer laboratory. The center offers classes in English, the Afrikaans and Oshindonga languages, agricultural education, the environment, art, physical education, religion and mathematics.
At the tribute, which was also attended by Magalys Henríquez, ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Namibia, Vigoa de la Uz gave the director a painting that shows the moment when President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez gave her an image of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz, during the visit he made to Namibia in August of last year.
“As the lyrics of the school anthem say, Fidel would be proud to see this extraordinary educational center that honors his work and his memory. I congratulate your group, especially teacher Martha, for caring and preserving each space of this palace of knowledge,” concluded the ambassador.
