Finland and Cuba ratify commitment to expand bilateral relations

Cuban Ambassador met Undersecretary of State of the MfA of Finland

Helsinki, September 20, 2018. Cuban Ambassador Eduardo Lazo Pérez was received on Wednesday, September 19th, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland by H.E. Anne Sipiläinen, Undersecretary of State for Foreign and Security Policy. During the meeting both interlocutors exchange ideas on various topics of bilateral and multilateral interest.

Both parties highlighted the good state of the bilateral relations, as well as the positive development of the Cuba-European Union ties. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat and the Undersecretary of State underlined the political will to continue promoting bilateral dialogue between their respective Foreign Ministries and to support the expansion of economic - commercial relations and in other areas.

The Cuban Ambassador appreciated the position adopted by Finland, shared by the other Member States of the European Union, opposed to the illegal and arbitrary economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba for almost 60 years.

On the Finnish side, Ms. Katja Karppinen-Njock, Deputy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland, also attended the meeting. (Report: Embassy of Cuba).
