Pretoria, January 16, 2025.- The Friendship Association with Cuba in South Africa (FOCUS) welcomed the decision of the United States government to remove the island from the arbitrary and unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism, in which a supportive and friend country like Cuba should never have been, according to the text.
The statement recognizes that this decision was a step in the right direction, but the policies that make up the genocidal blockade, which Washington continues to ruthlessly apply to the Cuban people, remain in force.
FOCUS hence calls on the outgoing and incoming administrations of the United States to eliminate once and for all and without conditions the unilateral sanctions against Cuba and its revolutionary people.
