Foreign Ministries of Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago exchange on matters of mutual interest.

Port of Spain, February 8.- The general director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, who completes a work visit in the Caribbean country, held a cordial and fruitful exchange with Mrs. Jennifer Marchand, director of CARICOM -Cuba of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM at the MFA. The Cuban diplomat was accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Guillermo Vázquez Moreno.

During the meeting both sides agreed on highlighting the good state of bilateral relations, as well as ratified the political will of their respective governments to strengthen these ties. The occasion was favorable to exchange criteria on wide range of topics of bilateral and international interest, among which are the results of the recent CARICOM-Cuba Summit in Antigua and Barbuda, the work program of the Association of Caribbean States, and the successes and current challenges that face the integration mechanisms in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.

The Director General of the Cuban Foreign Ministry took the opportunity to reiterate the gratitude of the People and Government of Cuba to Trinidad and Tobago for their firm and uninterrupted position of rejection of the unjust and violating sanctions of the US government agains Cuba, whose actions include the vote in favor of the Cuban resolution against the Blockade in the 72th General Assembly of the United Nations.
