Former President John Dramani Mahama receives Cuban Ambassador to Ghana.

Accra, April 26, 2022. - Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Ghana, Anette Chao García, on a courtesy visit. The meeting was attended by several members of the National Democratic Congress Party, including Hon. Kofi Attor, Vice-Chairman of the NDC and Senior Advisor at the Speaker's Secretariat.

 

The meeting was an opportunity for the Cuban official to thank the former president for his work in favour of Cuba, especially for supporting the island in its battle against the blockade imposed by the United States government, as well as for the deepening of the relations during his term in office. She also expressed she herself felt among brothers and that she knew there were many “Cuban ambassadors” in the African country, which made her work more pleasant.

 

For his part, the former president expressed his gratitude for the visit, acknowledged the historic bonds between the Caribbean island and the African country, voiced his appreciation for the many Ghanaians who graduated in Cuba and who live with a piece of the Caribbean in their souls. The former president recalled his many visits to the largest of the Antilles and the great efforts he made to lift the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba. He also highlighted the island's work in the fields of health and biotechnology. Finally, he welcomed the Cuban Ambassador to Ghana and reaffirmed the hopes for the realisation of joint projects.
