Founding Father of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, receives the Cuban Ambassador.

Namibia, January 29th, 2020- The Founding Father of Namibia and the First President of this African nation, Sam Nujoma, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Sidenio Acosta Aday. The Cuban diplomat paid a courtesy call on the historic leader of SWAPO.

Both exchanged on the state of historical relations between the Communist Party of Cuba and the SWAPO Party, the governments of Cuba and Namibia and between the two peoples. They agreed on the excellent state of the bilateral ties, which will turn 30 years of their official establishment, this 2020.

President Nujoma recalled several of his countless visits to the Island, as well as his meetings with Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. He also recalled the victory in the battle of Cuito Cuanavale of the Angolan, Namibian and Cuban forces against the racist South African army and what that meant for the definitive independence of his homeland.

The ambassador thanked the words of the African leader and also highlighted the courage of the SWAPO fighters and the Namibian struggle for their independence, not only on the battlefield, but also on the diplomatic front.

Ambassador Acosta updated the Namibian ex-president about the situation in Latin America and the regional right offensive against progressive governments and former left wing presidents. He also explained the latest measures to reinforce the blockade taken by the United States government against Cuba.

In addition, he thanked President Nujoma for the unconditional support to Cuba.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the also Cuban diplomats Aldo Fuentes and Juan Carlos Oliva.
