On Saturday, June 4, several directors of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Association met at the headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic mission in that West African nation. Several young Liberians graduated in Cuba from various specialties were also present.
As part of the meeting, the president of the association, Mr. David Papa Gayflor, made a summary about the main organizational challenges that they must face in order to achieve a more active performance, increase the membership and be able to better disseminate the Cuban reality. For its part, the Cuban mission official Carmen Maury, made reference to the upcoming celebration of the V Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Namibia, a scenario that may be conducive to exchange work experiences with other regional organizations that share the love and support for Cuba and its causes.
In the framework of the meeting three important ephemerides were remembered: the birthdays of General Antonio Maceo and of Commander Ernesto Ché Guevara and the Day of Africa. The visitors, particularly the graduates in Cuba, presented their experiences on the tributes of Cuba to both heroes and what these figures represent for the Cuban people and the world in general, especially Che. Reference was also made to Africa Day, the date on which one of the largest regional organizations emerged: The African Union, symbol of the certainty of a continent that is committed to unity within the rich diversity that characterizes it.
