Wellington, 17 November - Gathered to welcome the Ambassador of Cuba, the friendship society with the largest of the Antilles in Wellington, reiterated its condemnation of the blockade and reaffirmed the willingness of this group to maintain its contribution to the international fight for its total elimination. Pat Bolster and Gillian Magee, Chairman and Secretary of the organization respectively, confirmed that this fight will remain at the center of its solidarity work.
Just a month before the first anniversary of Gerardo, Antonio and Ramon’s return to their homeland, the occasion was propitious to recall the contribution of the Cuba Friendship Society in Wellington to the campaign for the release of the Five, the mention of which still provokes deep emotional feelings among the friends of Cuba in New Zealand.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, thanked the support and affection shown towards his country, while he took the opportunity to provide updated information on the developments in Cuba.
