Ottawa, June 22, 2022 - On Wednesday morning, a fruitful meeting took place between Susana Malmierca, General Consul of Cuba in Montreal and Sylvain Lavoie Président-directeur général du Centre de la francophonie des Amériques. Marc Lebel-Racine, Counselor for the Antilles and Central America of the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec, also participated in the meeting.
The occasion was propitious to ratify the interest in French language learning in Cuba and the opportunities for future exchange projects.
The programmed visits also included a meeting with Mathieu Parenteau, Director of Latin America and the Antilles of the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec.
In the afternoon session, a meeting was held with Raymond Boisvert, in charge of international relations for the Québec Capitales baseball team, who, in addition to ratifying his affection for Cuba, made reference to the inclusion of Cuban players in the team.
There was also an exchange with André Racette, director of support of international diffusion and expansion of the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, on the implementation of the cross-residency agreement between artists from Quebec and Cuba.
In the meetings held, the willingness of the parties to collaborate in different spheres and expand ties was evident.
As part of the day, a small tribute was paid to Cuba's national hero at the bust located in the Parc de l'Amérique Latine.
The visit concluded with a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Quebec offered by the Premier of the province, François Legault.
