General Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain visits Cuba

London, November 9, 2022- The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain (CPB), Robert Griffiths, arrived in Cuba on November 7 to hold a programme of official meetings with authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), as well as to visit places of historical and social interest.

In his first days on the island, Griffiths was received by the deputy chief of the International Relations Department at Cuba's Communist Party Central Committee, Ángel Arzuaga Reyes. According to a message posted by Arzuaga on Twitter, they discussed the work of the PCC. Arzuaga reiterated "the importance of the Final Declaration and Plan of Action of the recently concluded 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) for the unity of the international communist and workers' vanguard", while thanking the visitor for his solidarity with the Revolution and the rejection of the blockade imposed by the US against the island.

Griffiths also received an update on the reality of Cuba and the economic battle in a meeting with Joel Queipo Ruiz, head of the Economic-Productive Department of the Central Committee.

The CPB has traditionally maintained friendly and cooperative relations with the PCC. It actively supports the initiatives of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the UK against the blockade and foreign interference in the internal affairs of Cuba. Recently, the CPB chair and International Secretary, Ruth Styles and Kevan Nelson, respectively, visited Cuba to attend the XXII IMCWP.
