Grenadian students receive nine scholarships awarded by Cuba.

St. George's, June 21, 2024. The ceremony to present the scholarships awarded to nine Grenadian students took place at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Grenada, with the attendance of Mrs. Janine Pascal representing the Minister of Education and Head of the Scholarship Department, the Ambassador of Cuba Ivette Martínez Leyva, Dr Malachy Dottin, president of the Committee of graduated students from Cuba and other guests.

The Cuban diplomat congratulated the scholarship recipients and urged them to put all their efforts into becoming good doctors, specialists and engineers so that they can contribute to the development of this beautiful island. She added that in Cuba they will learn lessons that go beyond textbooks, they will learn that Cubans share what they have no matter how little it may be and that being supportive is as important as being a good professional. She told them to be certain that regardless of their specialty, they will be trained with a comprehensive, humanistic and supportive projection that are essences of the Cuban Revolution.

Dr. Daryl Bernard ISAAC, who will carry out a postgraduate study in internal medicine, read the Code of Ethics that foreign students must comply with at study centers in Cuba, which all the scholarship recipients signed.

Before the national insignia of Cuba and Grenada, the files and receipts for granting the scholarships were delivered, of which 3 are for undergraduate medicine, 2 for electrical and civil engineering, and 4 for postgraduate medicine in the specialties of internal medicine, urology. , orthopedics and psychiatry.

Dr Malachy Dottin praised and encouraged the scholarship recipients, telling them that the sacrifice made today of leaving their families and going to study in another language would be the great heritage of tomorrow. He asserted that the government has a lot of confidence in them and expected them back for their contributions to improving the quality of health services and infrastructure in Grenada.

With a family photo, adorned by the national flower and a toast to success and a good trip, the ceremony closed as a result of the collaboration in education between Cuba and the CARICOM countries.
