Namibia, November 9th, 2018- The President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Hage Geingob, received the ambassador of Cuba, Giraldo Mazola, in the State Hous of this African nation. The Cuban diplomat paid a courtesy call on President Geingob on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in Namibia.

The Namibian President congratulated Ambassador Mazola for his excellent work results and for the contributions made to the strengthening of historical relations between both countries.

He also highlighted the historical ties between the two nations, cemented by Fidel Castro and Sam Nujoma. He thanked Cuba once again for the contribution made during the struggle for the liberation of Namibia from the racist regime of apartheid and after its independence.

In this sense, he recalled the decisive contribution that represented the victory of Cuito Cuarnavale for the Namibian liberation and the bravery and integrity of the Cuban soldiers. He also highlighted the true internationalism of Cuba, because the Cuban troops only returned with the bodies of those who fell in combat.

For his part, Ambassador Mazola thanked the President for allowing him to say goodbye and for his warm words. He said that his stay in Namibia had passed very soon, due to the warmth and affection he found in this land. He said he was pleased with the work done and with his modest attitude to the solid relations between both countries.

Finally, the Cuban diplomat transferred him to President Geingob who left with Namibia in his Heart and who would always be a defender of the relations between both countries.
