HOLDS MEETING AMBASSADOR WITH VICE-MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF GEORGIA

Alfredo Nieves Portuondo Cuba Georgia

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Georgia, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Alexander Khvtisiashvili, held official talks as part of the visit of the Cuban diplomat to this Caucasian nation.
Nieves Portuondo said the visit is an excellent opportunity to discuss bilateral relations, as well as to promote dialogue and cooperation between both governments.
The diplomat also highlighted the interest in extending cultural and academic exchanges, and increasing Georgian tourism to the island.
Alexander Khvtisiashvili showed interest in tightening the bonds between both countries, particularly in the economic and cultural sphere.
Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Georgia after the independence of the Caucasian country of the Soviet Union and the European country votes in the United Nations in favor of the Cuban resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States vs Cuba.
