II Annual Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in the Netherlands

The Hague, June 29, 2024. The Second Annual Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba took place today at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in the Netherlands, where supportive friends and organizations gathered to show their support to Cuba and its condemnation of the genocidal US blockade against the island for more than 60 years, as well as its unjust inclusion in the spurious and unilateral list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

The meeting began with the intervention of the Cuban Ambassador, Anet Pino Rivero, who offered an update on the socioeconomic situation in Cuba, the serious effects of the blockade and the actions that are being developed to minimize these effects and continue improving the living conditions of the population.

The ambassador highlighted the internal and external challenges, as well as the priorities established by the Cuban government, in particular the unity, the constant exchange with the people, the defense of Revolution´s achievements, the work with young people and the application of measures that prevent deviations.

A fruitful exchange was held, where the actions carried out since the 2023 annual meeting were reviewed and new initiatives were presented, such as the publication of an open letter to the president of the United States, requesting the withdrawal of Cuba from the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism; the inauguration of a website for the solidarity network with Cuba in the Netherlands; and others.

The adoption of a statement to salute the XIX European Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, to be held in Paris, on November 23 and 24, 2024, was the last proposal held in the meeting. It will be presented by one of the members of the solidarity movement that will participate from the Netherlands.
