Kingston, Jamaica, 13 June 2022. This Saturday, before the bust of the Bronze Titan that stands in the National Heroes Park of Jamaica, fifty Cubans and brothers from Jamaica and other nations paid tribute to two great our History: Lieutenant General of the Liberation Army Antonio Maceo Grajales, and the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter, Commander Ernesto Guevara de la Serna.
Cuban residents in Jamaica, members of the State mission of Cuba, and Jamaican friends and friends from other nations of America and Africa participated in the simple but emotional act, presided over by the Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica. The president of the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica "Antonio Maceo", Professor Osvaldo Cárdenas, offered a discussion on the presence of Maceo in Jamaica, where he traveled with his family at the end of the Ten Years War and where he and others patriots conspired to achieve the definitive victory of the independence struggles against Spain.
The central words of the act were in charge of the Cuban ambassador, who highlighted the coincidences of action and thought between these two heroes of Cuba, born 83 years apart, and twinned in the emancipatory and anti-imperialist ideology. The diplomat highlighted the validity of these principles, in essential times for the unity of our America.
As a culmination of the activity, those present deposited a floral offering before the bust erected in memory of Maceo, the only one dedicated to a foreign hero in the park where the national heroes of Jamaica rest.
