Kingston, 4 April 2024. Members of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica celebrated the 63rd anniversary of the José Martí Pioneers Organisation (OPJM) and the 62nd anniversary of the Young Communist League (UJC).
Representing the militants of the UJC, the collaborator of the Medical Brigade Yaser Herrera Izquierdo ratified the commitment of the Cuban youth to the defence of the achievements of the Revolution and the continuity in the construction of our socialist model. He also referred to the results achieved during the debates of the XII Congress of the UJC and congratulated Meybis Estévez Echevarria, elected as the new First Secretary of the organisation.
Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, in his remarks to those present, highlighted the main challenges facing the new generations in the midst of a complex context marked by the tightening of the blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. He reiterated his confidence in today's enthusiastic, capable, energetic, responsible and heroic youth, who seek to create individual and collective happiness in an environment where the diversity of criteria and colours converge, based on unity.
As part of the activity, the artistic talent of the pioneers of the Embassy and the Medical and Educational Brigades was enjoyed, accompanied by Cuban music.
