Kuwait, 22 September 2016. The Kuwait Times newspaper publishes entirely the Statement, delivered by Cuban President Raul Castro at the first high-level meeting of XVII NAM Summit held in Margarita Island, Venezuela on 17 and 18 September.
During his speech Raul called for unity and solidarity of the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) as the only alternative to the enormous dangers and challenges in defense of common interests and expressed support for the cause of various peoples of third World, who face the onslaught of the great centers of power.
Later the Cuban president emphasized that Cuba will continue to demand the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States of America, which cause much damage and hardship to the Cuban people and that also affects many countries for its extraterritorial scope; and will continue demanding that the territory illegally occupied by the US Naval Base at Guantanamo be returned.
