The International Evaluation and Accreditation Committee (CEAI) of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUALC) accredited internationally the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) of Cuba and its Medicine study program for 6 years.
This recognition supports the quality of medical professionals graduated in Cuba by ELAM, founded 24 years ago, in a former naval academy 25 km from Havana.
According to the Minister of Public Health of Cuba, José Angel Portal Miranda, “This achievement is the result of the effort and dedication of the teachers, students and administrative staff of ELAM. ELAM, inaugurated on November 15, 1999 by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, has become a university of excellence in the comprehensive training of health professionals.”
ELAM is an international school that trains medical science professionals among disadvantaged young people from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and even the United States.
In 19 graduations, ELAM has graduated 30,878 doctors from 122 countries, including Mongolia and more than 250 young people from the United States who have passed very rigorous academic procedures to receive validation and practice in their country.
Congratulations to all the professionals, doctors, workers and students of ELAM, as well as the medical graduates of that Cuban University.
