Beirut, September 7, 2021. Lebanese media of various tendencies disclosed today that Cuba will be the first country in the world to vaccinate children over two years old against Covid-19 with two of the vaccines developed in the Caribbean island.

The reports highlight that Cuba, with a population of 11.2 million, aims to vaccinate all its children before reopening its schools, which have been closed, almost uninterruptedly, since March 2020. The new school year began yesterday in Cuba, but from homes, and through educational television programs.

It is also reported that after completing clinical trials in minors with the Abdala and Soberana vaccines, Cuba started on Friday its campaign to vaccinate children, starting with those over 12 years of age. Yesterday, a campaign to vaccinate the two to 11 age group was launched in the province of Cienfuegos in the center of the country.

It is also noted that many other countries in the world vaccinate children over 12 years of age, while some countries are conducting clinical trials on younger children. Countries such as China, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela have also announced their intention to vaccinate young children, but Cuba is the first in the world to take this step.

Among the media that reported the news were the Al Mayadeen channel and the newspapers Al Akhbar, Al Joumhouria, Al Nahar and El Nahsra. (Embacuba Líbano)
